About
My name is Jacob and I am a December 2021 NC State University Phi Beta Kappa/summa cum laude graduate with a BS in biological sciences/human biology and a minor in microbiology with a 4.0 GPA. My academic pedigree includes general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, calculus, human anatomy and physiology coupled with graduate-level coursework in molecular genetics, cell biology, immunology, and analytical biochemistry.
As a tutor, I encourage high school and college students to focus on comprehending fundamental scientific and mathematical principles. This teaching philosophy forges a solid foundation of understanding challenging topics in contrast to just memorizing formulas and equations with the “plug and chug” mentality.
In my experience, grasping the “why” behind tough assignments/questions turns on the proverbial “light bulb” and enables learners to perform well under the intense pressure that inevitably comes with test taking.
I consider it a unique privilege to help students excel regardless of their level of competency in any given subject. Learning comes naturally and increases exponentially when students feel free to ask any question at any time.
