About Yelena
I have previous tutoring experience working at Mathnasium and Grade Potential. In my time working with these companies, I have learned how to tailor my tutoring approach to different types of students. I have also expanded on my own knowledge and learned several ways to explain one concept. I tutor any K-12 math subject along with Calculus 1 and Ordinary Differential Equations. I also tutor Physics 1 and 2 at the college level, and AP Physics 1. I also tutor Engineering Statics and Dynamics.

My approach to tutoring starts with explaining the concepts to the student, working through some practice problems with them, and then allowing them to work through some practice problems on their own. Afterwards, I will ask the student to explain their thought process behind each problem, to ensure they have a deep understanding of the subject. If I notice gaps in their knowledge, I will work on those with them. After the session, I will create lesson plans for the student related to the subject, making sure to emphasize practice on areas where they appear to have gaps in knowledge. What sets me apart as a tutor is my patience, understanding, and tailored approach. The key is figuring out the right study method for each student, and ensuring they do not have previous gaps in knowledge. These are some of the biggest reasons why students struggle in math and find it hard to recover. With my encouragement, I believe students can build their confidence in math, physics, and engineering, and earn A's in their respective courses.
