Hi! My name is Yan, and I’m an 18-year-old international student from Malaysia currently studying at UNSW Sydney. Ever since I was a child, I’ve had a deep passion for piano performance, especially music from the classical, romantic and contemporary periods with 14 years of piano playing experience. I love sharing my knowledge and joy for playing the piano, and my goal is to inspire others to appreciate and enjoy piano music as much as I do.

As an 18-year-old pianist holding ABRSM Grade 8 Practical and Theory qualifications, I bring both formal training and a genuine enthusiasm for sharing my love of music. With three months of experience teaching beginner students, I focus on building strong foundations in technique, rhythm, and musical expression through a supportive and encouraging environment.
My teaching approach blends structured learning with creativity — I guide students step by step through exercises, techniques, postures, and repertoire suited to their level while also incorporating simple theory to strengthen understanding such as note reading. I emphasize patience and positive reinforcement, ensuring each student progresses at their own pace and develops confidence at the piano.
Lessons typically run for 45-60 minutes, depending on the student's age and attention span. I currently teach beginners of all ages, from young children to adult learners, helping them gain both technical skill and appreciation for music.
