About Philippa
Hello, my name is Philippa Smith, I am a singing teacher, vocal coach and performance artist. I have been teaching voice for approximately 15 years and I have a passion for helping people to find their voice. I have worked with a number of vocal students, from all age groups and abilities. I have helped many people to progress with their vocal ability. Many have gone on to secure places at drama school and conservatoires, as well as secure professional jobs in the entertainment industry, both on stage and screen. I understand that everyone has different vocal goals and needs and that is why I work closely with each individual, providing unique and tailor-made lessons to help them realise their vocal potential.

I use a wide range of techniques to help aid students in their journey to finding their true potential in their voice. My approach is holistic because the voice is affected by the entire body and mind. The techniques and exercises are customised to each individual and focal areas in need of improvement. My approach to teaching is effective, as I use everyday examples to help students visualise the more difficult technical skills necessary for good vocal technique. Lessons are typically 30 mins but can be more if requested. My musical background is in gospel music, musical theatre as well as classical. I teach students who are interested in a variety of genres as the techniques learnt can be applied to one's personal taste and interest. I have a degree in music and theatre and over 15 years' experience in teaching voice and 20 years' music / performance. My lessons are for all age groups and abilities, beginning at age 9 years and upward. I enjoy teaching both children and adults. Students have the option to take formal exams if they so wish, but this is not compulsory. I am passionate about teaching voice and I look forward to helping you with your journey.

Perfect! Phillipa was extremely professional, and really both kind and informative in her tutoring helping me focus on the most important things to develop my voice.
