About Alison
Alison has grown up on the Gold Coast, and is now based in the beautiful Nobby’s Beach with her husband & son. She has always been creative. As a child she wanted to be an artist and go to art school. After school she attended Griffith University and graduated with a Bachelor of 3D Design whilst working as a picture framer. However, as it does, life went down a different path. Alison traveled, worked as an assistant manager of a furniture store and then ended up in an accounting role and had been doing this for over 10 years. She was always crafty through this time but realized after her son was born that she had lost that real creative spark and still had a strong desire for a creative career. In 2019 Alison went along to a calligraphy workshop for fun… and was hooked ~ line & sinker. She practiced every day for hours, took some online workshops and poured through calligraphy books. Now she loves to share the art of calligraphy with the public at live events & brand activations as well as teach students and create memorable bespoke items for events & gifts.

Alison teaches the foundations of calligraphy, tools, basic strokes, lower and upper case alphabet. A beginner's class is approx 1.5-2 hours long and in that time Alison provides a wealth of knowledge and lots of advice on how to continue practice to develop skills in calligraphy. She also teaches follow-up lessons for those wishing to brush up on existing skills. These classes are around 1-1.5hrs. Engraving classes don't teach calligraphy but how to engrave calligraphy or other designs, so you don't need to be a calligrapher to take an engraving class.
