About Ashia
Based in Miami Florida, classical vocalist, songwriter, and educator Ashia Barnes has been
studying classical voice, contemporary, and musical theater for an enjoyable 12 years,
making sure to take in all of music’s wonders and beauty. Because of this, music has
evolved from being a tremendous joy to her life to one of her biggest passions and life
meaning. She has made it her duty to share her gift to the world and deeply touch a
listener’s heart while also sharing her knowledge and experiences to today’s youth and
teaching them about the wonders of the performing arts. Ms. Barnes’s number one priority
is to find a musician’s “special sound.” She does this by allowing her students freedom to
express their musicality in an incredibly open and inviting environment. Ashia Barnes holds
an Associate of Arts degree in Music Education from Daytona State College, a Bachelor of
Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, and currently
earning her master's degree in vocal performance at the prestigious Frost School of Music,
University of Miami. She has also been accepted into some of the most prestigious music
programs such as the Berlin Opera Academy, Miami Music Festival, Classic Lyric Arts, and
has competed in top competitions such as the Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition
where she won the honorable encouragement award at the Florida district level.

My number one priority is to help a musician find their special sound through exercises that accommodate aural and visual learning styles. These exercises lead to healthy singing and playing while reducing tension. This ultimately leads to breath management and overall strengthens the sound.
