About Amanda
My name is Amanda Hovey, and I've been teaching swimming for 8 years. I hold lifeguard and water safety certifications, and I've worked with swimmers of all ages — from young children to older adults. I'm known for my calm, encouraging style and my ability to help nervous swimmers feel safe and supported. My students trust me because I never rush them and I always celebrate their progress, no matter how small. I've helped children overcome their fear of water, adults learn to swim for the first time, and swimmers improve their confidence and technique. With me, you'll develop a genuine love for the water and the skills to enjoy it safely.

Hi, I'm Amanda Hovey. I've taught swimming for 8 years, and my focus is on helping swimmers build confidence, correct their technique, and feel safe in the water. I work with beginners who are nervous about putting their face in the water, adults who never learned to swim, and anyone who wants to improve their technique in a supportive environment. My lessons are gentle and paced to your comfort level. We start with water acclimation, breath control, and floating — the essential building blocks. From there, we develop kicking, arm strokes, and full coordination for freestyle and backstroke. I also teach basic water safety skills like treading water, staying calm in deeper water, and understanding how to react in an emergency. My approach is patient, reassuring, and always supportive — I help you overcome fear and build genuine confidence in the water.
