About Ian
I am a 16-year-old student at Varsity College studying flute at an AMEB grade 8 level. As many of my students will be targeted for school students, I understand what learning a new instrument would feel like. Literally, I've been there, and done that. So you can rely on me to understand what you are going through. These are my accomplishments: 1st and platinum award for the Gold Coast Eisteddfod for the regional Symphony Orchestra. 2nd place at the woodwind duets for the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. Participation in the SHEP program for 2 years. Participation in a private flute tutoring workshop at UQ. Multiple placements over 4 years in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. And much much more.

From all my years of learning and performing with this instrument, I've grown to value tone quality and musical playing the most. I'd love to be able to pass on my knowledge of the flute to starting, aspiring, curious, or generally anyone who wants to learn the flute. Not just through instructing, but to resonate with my students individually, to cater to the different needs of different individuals, because there is no right answer to how one learns. Like music!
