About Leah
I hold an MSc in Law & Society: Governance and Global Development from Leiden University and an MSc in Cultural and Social Anthropology from the University of Amsterdam. My academic background has given me extensive experience with qualitative research, theoretical frameworks, academic writing, literature reviews, research design, and developing and communicating complex social science arguments.
Having completed two master's degrees myself, I understand the challenges involved in taking a large independent research project from an initial research question through to a coherent final thesis. My tutoring style is supportive, critical, and personalized to your research project and goals.

I offer personalized virtual thesis and dissertation support for undergraduate and master’s students in the social sciences. Each session is tailored to your research project, current stage, and individual goals. Rather than following a standardized lesson plan, we identify the areas where you need the most support and work through them together.
Sessions can focus on developing or refining your research question, strengthening your theoretical framework, working through qualitative research methods, structuring chapters, developing and sharpening your argument, interpreting qualitative data, engaging with academic literature, or improving the clarity and structure of your academic writing.
A typical session begins by identifying a clear priority based on your current progress. We then work through relevant sections of your thesis or dissertation together, using discussion, critical questions, and constructive feedback to identify strengths and areas for improvement. At the end of the session, we establish clear and manageable next steps for you to work on independently.
My approach is collaborative and personalized. My goal is not to write or rewrite your thesis for you, but to help you strengthen your own ideas, analysis, research skills, and academic writing. I particularly enjoy helping students connect theory, methodology, and qualitative findings and develop them into a clear and coherent academic argument.
The $40 hourly rate includes a one-hour virtual tutoring session as well as time spent reviewing relevant drafts or materials beforehand, so that we can make the most of our session together.

Leah is an amazing educator, as I have attended multiple seminars that she led where she guided us through complex and nuanced topics regarding history, culture, and anthropology. What I appreciate most about her teaching style is that she is passionate about making sure what she explains is understood fully by those listening. She is also excellent at making complicated topics easy to understand. Leah is passionate about and dedicated to providing high quality instruction. I 100% recommend her as a tutor!
I worked with Leah through my documentary research of the international student experience at Western Michigan University. She gave such caring detail and insight of the international experience through her family’s own history.
Her undergraduate thesis “LATU MAE RISSA: Leader Come to War! An Autoethnography of Colonialization and Post-colonization” was well written and presented with a lot of passion. When I talk to Leah I learn something new every time! She is a passionate, well versed, and intelligent anthropologist. I think what I like most about Leah is that she actually listens to what you have to say.View more recommendations
