About Mina

I am currently doing my linguistics master in ANU and did a Teaching Languages course. Before that I was a translator between English and Mandarin and finished a book translation(the Last Hundred Days) on WW1 from Penguin Books. I just love languages. From different signals, grammars, sounds system adopted by different languages, we can really have an appreciation of how different language speakers might even construct the reality slightly differently or just for aesthetic reasons!

I can tutor for different needs of students of different levels. Whether you are new to Mandarin, and frustrated by its 'endless' characters, 'strange' tones, 'unreasonable' grammar, or an intermediate learner who wants to hit a higher aim in comprehension and expression (being accurate and idiomatic).

About the lesson

My lessons are best suited for those who are at university or high school.
The lesson would be delivered by PPP (presentation, practice and production, a typical technique for teaching languages) in an interactive way. The material will be authentic and updated, or even classic if you want! They are not fixed and we can decide whether to adopt it or adapt it based on your own learning experience.

I can either take your hand through the hard bits of learning Mandarin or be a communicative partner giving you constructive feedback for improvement or useful learning strategies for your independent learning.

I would tailor my teaching to your need if you are clear about it, whether it is to assist your uni performance or just to tackle a particular difficulty or whatever.
If you don't have a clear mind on what should be improved yet and just want to have a general improvement, that is fine as well! We can talk through it or give you an adapted small quiz if you want one before the lesson. :))

Have fun and cheers!
