About Siyu

Hi! My name is Siyu, and I am currently a Master's student at the Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra. I am a native Mandarin speaker and hold a PSC Level 2-A certificate, which means I have a strong command of standard Mandarin pronunciation.

I have around 1.5 years of experience teaching Chinese and enjoy helping students build confidence when learning a new language. I am patient, friendly, and always try to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel encouraged to speak and practice.

As someone who is passionate about language and cultural exchange, I enjoy meeting students from different backgrounds and helping them improve their Chinese step by step. I believe that learning a language should be both effective and enjoyable, and I look forward to supporting students in their Mandarin learning journey.

About the lesson

My teaching approach focuses on making Chinese learning practical, interactive, and tailored to each student's needs. I design lessons based on the student's level, goals, and interests so that learning feels engaging and effective.

In my classes, students can work on different aspects of Chinese, including conversational Chinese, pronunciation improvement, vocabulary building, grammar explanations, and listening practice. I also offer support for students who want to prepare for the HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test), helping them improve their vocabulary, reading, listening, and test-taking skills.

I like to include real-life situations and cultural context to help students understand how Chinese is used in everyday communication.

A typical lesson usually lasts about 60 minutes, and the structure of the lesson can be adjusted depending on the student's learning pace and goals.

My lessons are suitable for students of all levels, from beginners to intermediate and advanced learners. I mainly teach teenagers and adult learners who want to learn Chinese for study, travel, work, HSK preparation, or personal interest.
