About Alexandra
I am studying a Bachelor of Languages and Medical Science at the ANU. I have been tutoring students since 2016. In the 2018 HSC, I received a raw mark of 96 for English, and was listed as a distinguished achiever. Each student I have tutored has not only exceeded their personal best, but some have also gone on to rank within the top 10 in their cohort for history, and top 25 in their cohort for English.

With high school students, I get each student to explain to me the texts they are studying, in terms of themes, plot, social, historical and literary contexts. From there, I like to draw up essay plans with them, and teach them how to draw up their own. If possible, I like to mark any of their past work in the subject, and encourage them to send me their work anytime so that I can mark it and they can improve it before I see them next, or before their exams. With students in lower secondary school, I like to hone their skills of analysis by spending 10 minutes or so each week analysing texts I have prepared for them, discussing the themes, and encouraging them to practice analysing on the spot. In later years, I like to strengthen and deepen their analysis on texts they are already studying. Students are encouraged to send me any essays, creative pieces or anything else they need marked before an exam, or during the week.
