Pre-Architecture Student at the University of Washington-Seattle with high math knowledge

Kiae Shin moved to Kodiak, AK from Korea during her ninth-grade year. Through hard work, and focus, Kiae quickly moved into our mainstream course plans, focusing on Math, Architectural Drafting and Science. To improve her English skills and connect with the Kodiak community, Kiae joined a number of school and community groups; volunteering at the Museum, participating in Kodiak High School Key Club, Art Club, HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) and earning admittance to the National Honor Society. In addition to volunteer and group participation, Kiae participated in the 2017 USA competition in Architectural Drafting, winning in the state of Alaska, and earning a 17th place finish in the National Skills-USA completion in Louisville, Kentucky. In her Senior year, Kiae challenged herself by enrolling in Advanced Placement (AP) Calculus and AP Studio Art all while continuing to participate in clubs and acquiring after-school employment. Kiae Shin will make an excellent teacher as she is diligent, professional and patient.

I have been Kiae’s classmate for over 3 years and her determination to succeed has inspired me to excel in my courses. Despite arriving to America speaking little English, she absorbed the complex language and became fluent in a flash! Combined with her Japanese background, academic dedication and friendly personality, she is a perfect candidate for a Japanese and math tutor. Not only is she capable of explaining difficult concepts in a conprehendable manner, but will also encourage you with her hospitable presence.
