  • When did you start practising? How did this passion find you?

I started practising art at the age of 8, and since then, art has been a constant part of my life. It found me in the most organic way, through the joy I felt when I first picked up a pencil and drew on paper. My passion grew as I continued to explore various forms and styles of art throughout my childhood and schooling years. It became a way for me to express emotions that I couldn't put into words.
  • Which artists or works affect you the most?

I draw inspiration from a mix of classical and modern artists. Van Gogh's emotional use of colour and texture has always spoken to me. His ability to convey deep feelings through vibrant strokes and swirling forms inspires me to push boundaries with my own artwork. I also admire contemporary artists who work with multimedia or blend technology with traditional art because it opens up new ways of thinking about creativity.
  • What are the qualities and skills required to succeed in this area?

Patience, perseverance, and curiosity are key. Art takes time, and developing your skills is a process that doesn't happen overnight. You also need to have a passion for exploring different ideas and techniques, and not be afraid to fail or experiment. A good eye for detail and composition is important, but above all, having an open mind and willingness to learn are essential to evolving as an artist.
  • What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

Always remind yourself why you started. That initial spark of passion is what will keep you going through challenging times. Break your project into smaller goals so it feels less overwhelming, and don't be afraid to take breaks to recharge your creative energy. It's also helpful to surround yourself with inspiration, whether through nature, books, or other forms of art. Keep fueling your imagination.
  • How would you describe your passion? How does it make you feel?

Art makes me feel free. It's a form of self-expression that allows me to connect with my emotions in ways that words can't. It's both therapeutic and exhilarating, whether I'm working on something personal or for someone else. Art gives me a sense of purpose and allows me to communicate my thoughts and feelings to others in a unique way.
  • What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

One of my proudest achievements is creating a piece of art that captured my emotions during a very difficult period of my life. That artwork helped me process those feelings and resonated with others who had gone through similar experiences. I'm also proud of the moments when I've taught art to students, seeing them develop their own unique styles and gaining confidence in their abilities.
  • Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?

Yes, absolutely! I've had several students who've surprised me with their talent and how quickly they pick up new skills. One particular student stands out. She started with very basic skills but within a few weeks, she was producing incredibly detailed and expressive work. It's always inspiring to see how much potential people have, and how teaching can unlock that creativity.
  • Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?

My secret is connecting with my students on a personal level. I understand that everyone has a different learning pace and style, and I try to tailor my teaching methods to suit them individually. I focus not only on techniques but also on nurturing their creative confidence. Encouragement and providing constructive feedback go a long way in building their passion for art. Most importantly, I try to make every lesson enjoyable and fulfilling for both of us!
