Teaching and learning art for me is most fun when observing and responding with creativity to case studies and working from life. I can walk through case studies on famous and lesser known artists (you can even requests for your favourites) throughout history and present, noting and replicate techniques from some of the greats while experimenting with ways each student can combine this with their own style.
Working from life could range through human life drawing to landscapes to regular household objects, enabling students to grasp the anatomy and spirit of the world around them. This could include excursions to parks or galleries, observing people on the street or collecting unique items and books to draw upon for inspiration!
I'm absolutely able to adjust to each students needs and preferences; if you love portraiture we can look at Klimt and Kahlo, or explore the differences between Monet and Manet if you have an interest in the Impressionists.
I'm a multidiciplinary artist recently graduated with honours from UNSW Art School (COFA) with previous assistant teaching experience at a private art studio (20 students at a time). I majored in oil painting, but have passion and experience in life drawing, botanical illustration, drawing (ink, pastel, charcoal, graphite, coloured pencil), fashion illustration, textile design/sewing, and contemporary approaches.
Cancellation before 24h incurs no fee. Cancellation within 24h of the lesson incurs a 50% fee.
I am currently working as a practicing artist showing contemporary works in exhibitions as well as more traditional commission work predominately in portraiture and life drawing.
