About Alessandra
Alessandra Falbo (b. São Paulo, 1990) is a London-based artist, curator, and photographer. She began her professional photography career at age 13, initially documenting birthday parties before transitioning to nightclub photography. Throughout the early 2000s, she covered events at venues such as Inferno Club, Outs, and Fun House in São Paulo, capturing individual portraits and band photos within the nightlife scene. Falbo started working in photography before the digital era, delivering her first assignments as medium format analogue sets, utilising a fully mechanical Hasselblad. Her experience spans product photography and corporate events, with clients including Motorola, Nickelodeon, Boticário, and Discovery Kids, as well as art institutions like Instituto Tomie Ohtake and MuBE (Museu Brasileiro da Escultura e Ecologia), where she documented artworks. In London, Falbo has photographed art privately and served as a technician for various artists. Her multimedia art practice—encompassing video, photography, and installation—draws from her personal experiences and includes collaborative projects. Notably, her short docs-fiction A Rough Cut Of Love (2017), produced with director Lud Monaco, has been screened in over 50 cities across Brazil, Europe, and the U.S. Falbo has curated numerous exhibitions internationally, including A Moveable Feast (Platforms Project Independent Art Fair, Athens, 2019), Eaux d'Artifice (in collaboration with Lee Wells, IFAC Athina, Athens, 2019), and Porn The Theory - Fantasy The Practice by Stewart Home & Itziar Bilbao Urrutia (Cable Depot, London, 2019). She is also the founder and director of the project space Darling Pearls & Co in London.
