About Lorna
I have had a love of arithmetic ever since I can remember. I always wanted to be a math teacher. I've taken algebra 1&2, geometry, and trigonometry in high school. I ended up tutoring my friends' children, my grandchildren, college students while I was pursuing my accounting degree. I more recently took College Algebra that was basically pre- calculus. I can show you how we use math every day, from our waking moments until we close our eyes at the end of a day, without giving it a second thought. It would be an honor to assist you with any math you are trying to conquer.

First, I would find how they feel about the subject ie. like, don't like, hate it, don't care one way or the other just need it to pass, etc. Then I find out where the student is in understanding the actual subject. Most of the time students don't like something because they just have not caught on to the subject. I give everyone a drill sheet that consist of addition and one of subtraction as an ice breaker to loosen them up for an assessment I give them to see how familiar they are with the actual subject of Algebra or Geometry. It could be by giving them a quiz asking them to define foundational facts about the subject to see where they are or maybe actual problems. As a tutor that loves math, I enjoy helping students, elementary through college level, parents, guardians, business execs, etc. become better at math by understanding it.
