About Thomas
I have an Associates Degree (two year degree) in Mathematics and an Associates in Science from Victor Valley College. I worked as an AVID tutor to middle school students while attending college. I have been tutoring on-and-off since high school and have taken, and passed, numerous AP exams while in high school, including Calculus BC with a 5.

I come from a family of teachers. My mother teaches high school math, my father substitute teaches, and with their knowledge combined with my AVID training, I have found the best way to teach students of any level is to see where they are struggling, and try to guide them to an understanding by rephrasing or re-approaching the subject from a new direction. I do not believe in rote memorization of algorithms, I believe in a deeper understanding of the subject. Don't try to remember the formula, know how to derive the formula.
