About Blake
My name is Blake, and I am an astrophysics student at The Ohio State University with a strong background in physics, mathematics, astronomy, and scientific computing. I have experience conducting undergraduate research in atmospheric modeling and spectroscopy, including work involving exoplanet biosignature detection and scientific data analysis.
I have also worked as a teaching assistant at Northwestern University, where I helped students with aerospace engineering, biomedical engineering, robotics, programming, and science concepts. Through that experience, I learned how to explain difficult ideas clearly, adapt to different learning styles, and help students feel more confident in their abilities.
As a tutor, I am patient, organized, and focused on helping students truly understand the material rather than simply memorize steps. I take professionalism seriously and aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and improving over time.

My name is Blake, and my tutoring approach is patient, clear, and focused on real understanding. I do not just give students formulas and expect them to memorize steps. Instead, I help them understand why a method works, how to recognize the right approach, and how to build confidence solving problems on their own.
A typical lesson starts by identifying what the student is currently working on and where they feel stuck. Then we review the key concept, walk through examples together, and gradually move toward independent problem solving. I like to explain ideas in simple language, use diagrams or real-world analogies when helpful, and break difficult problems into smaller steps.
What sets me apart is my background as an astrophysics student and researcher. I have experience with physics, mathematics, astronomy, scientific computing, and engineering education, so I can connect classroom topics to real scientific applications. I also have teaching experience helping students with aerospace engineering, robotics, programming, and science concepts.
My lessons are best for middle school, high school, and early college students who need help in math, physics, astronomy, general science, or introductory programming. I can help with homework, test preparation, concept review, problem-solving strategies, and building stronger study habits.
