About Marianna

I am currently in my second year of Bachelor of Primary and Early Childhood Education at ACU. I have belonged to two different study groups in year 11 and 12 with my peers, to consolidate our knowledge and studying techniques in English and Biology, meeting once a week for each subject. I have helped two of my friends understand maths concepts which they found challenging and have been told I am good at explaining things in a different way. I was in the top five of the class in Biology in year 11 and 12. Additionally I greatly improved in English from getting scores of 6 at the start of the year to 8 and 9s because of my motivating teacher and her ability to explain things well. I am a very organised individual, using my planner a lot and to do lists which I stick to.

About the lesson

Firstly I would help the students establish some goals, based on things they want to improve on in the upcoming topic, by targeting their weaknesses.
Setting some objectives for the lesson so that the student knows what to expect and can feel fulfilled after completing the tasks.
Continuously asking the students questions and quizzing them on new knowledge to make sure they understand the concepts before moving on. Essentially moving at their own pace.
Teaching organisational strategies, and making timelines for schoolwork and tutoring work accordingly.
Personalizing teaching techniques to match the student's interests and mode of learning e.g. visual.
