About Eric
My name is Eric NAMINZO.
I am a teacher in a Professional High School: Spanish teacher who has also presented the CAPES of Creole once (admissibility), because very involved in the development of this language, which is my mother tongue.
Also an artist (poet, singer-songwriter) passionate about the promotion, development and transmission of his culture and his native language, Reunionese Creole.
As such, in 2020 I launched a project around the promotion of Reunionese culture, through 3 approaches that are close to my heart: language, history and music (songs with texts). To do this, I offer workshops and discovery tours in emblematic places.
With the same objective, my Creole language workshops and courses are offered to all audiences, with various specific programs of course, depending on the degree of knowledge of each.
This workshop is the 1st part of a module of 3 sessions (with 2 distinct levels).
It includes several points:
- Why write our mother tongue?
- Brief history and genesis of Creole writing (from 1724 to 2021)
- The various spellings of Reunion Creole today
- The basics of writing Creole
- Practical exercise transcription / transposition games in a spelling, etc., reading aloud, playful dictations, etc.
The complete module, for those who want to understand everything about our language (its development/its origin/its interest), comes in 3 sessions for a fixed price of 50€.
Strongly recommended to master everything you need to know about the writing of Creole: regional or social variants (the "lects"), the reasons, the history of its writing, the practices, the place of written Creole in our company, etc
It is also in the 2nd and 3rd sessions (which correspond to level 2) that we approach the various specificities, rare words, those less used nowadays, the improbable and unexpected roots of certain very rare words (difficult to find in reference works), the syntax which is unfortunately gradually being diluted in that of French, the difficulties linked to the historical and societal context of speaking/reading/writing Creole (the sociological and socio-linguistic aspect: image problem and representation of language, explanation of the phenomenon of "diglossia"); expressions, proverbs, "sirandanes", etc.). But also the limits, the necessary borrowings, the need to invent new words to express our reality in Creole...
The questions and debates surrounding the writing of Creole will have no more secrets for you!

Proximity and participation in various structures or other groups for the development of expression in Creole (written/oral).
Methodology: based on my experience as a teacher in the National Education, I adapt traditional techniques to a more "authentic" context and philosophy, closer to the modes of transmission of oral cultures such as that of Reunion. but also through games, in a very convivial spirit of sharing.
It is, after all, a question of promoting and preserving a culture, a way of life, much more than the simple learning of a language and an ordinary culture, in particular one which would already have a strong influence , an international distribution and weight like certain European languages. Far from it. We still have to prove the importance of keeping elements of our culture in the concert of world cultures where the law of the strongest unfortunately also governs languages...
