About Michael

I’m a music producer, educator and multi-instrumentalist with 15 years of international teaching experience and an undergraduate degree from McGill University’s Schulich School of Music (Jazz Guitar) and a master’s degree from Berklee Valencia (Music Production, Technology and Innovation). As a music instructor I’ve led private advanced improvisation masterclasses and workshops, successfully prepared students for undergraduate level auditions at U.S. and Canadian universities, worked as a jazz ensemble sectional coach in the Maryland Public School System, and provided musical instruction for adults with intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities through a Rockville, MD based nonprofit. As a producer I work with artists in LA, NYC, Toronto, Montreal, Paris and Seoul, and have landed sync placements with major brands (Sephora, Ardene, Starbucks, Oikos, Josh Cellars) through my work with U.S. and Canada-based publishing companies and sync agencies. I've helped beginner to advanced students of all ages break through plateaus on their instruments, and most importantly, find joy in the love of playing. Can't wait to start learning together! About the lesson

Hi! If you're here, you must be here for a reason! That's why each lesson begins by clearly defining your goals and designing a lesson plan tailored to your current strengths and weaknesses. Lessons typically revolve around the practical application of theoretical knowledge through simple, customized exercises that you can take with you for life - these are intended to be short meditations that will help you not only to advance on your instrument, but also to improve your general focus and mental acuity. Music has taken me the world over - from Seoul to Havana to Cotonou. I am deeply honored to have spent the last 15 years helping students of all ages and levels find joy and meaning through the practice of music making. Some of my students have gone on to become professional musicians themselves - and some have simply reclaimed their confidence and sense of curiosity through their relationship with their instrument.
