About Charles

As the founder of the award-winning STX Academy of ROCK, I bring over 15 years of experience teaching guitar, bass, and ukulele to students of all ages. My lessons have helped hundreds of students gain confidence, improve their skills, and truly enjoy the process of learning music. I take great pride in creating a positive, judgment-free environment where students feel supported, motivated, and inspired to grow. Whether you're a beginner or returning to music after a break, I’m committed to helping you reach your goals with patience, professionalism, and proven methods that deliver results. You’ll always leave your lesson feeling accomplished and ready for more. Alongside my teaching, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to share the stage with legendary rock acts like Fran Cosmo (formerly of Boston), Jack Russell’s Great White, Slaughter, Quiet Riot, and Lynch Mob. These experiences not only shaped my musicianship but also deepened my ability to guide students who dream of performing or joining a band themselves.

About the lesson

My teaching approach is personalized, practical, and progress-driven. I focus on real-world playing techniques, combining song-based learning with music theory, ear training, and rhythm development. Each lesson is tailored to the student's goals, whether it's playing their favorite songs, understanding how music works, or preparing for performance.

A typical lesson includes a warm-up, review of previous material, focused skill-building, and learning a song or technique that keeps students inspired and engaged. I emphasize creativity, confidence, and consistency.

What sets me apart is my ability to teach across all ages and skill levels — from kids with short attention spans to adults returning after years away. I use neuro-friendly strategies to support students with ADHD, autism, or unique learning styles.

My lessons are ideal for beginners, intermediate players, adult learners, children ages 7+, and anyone looking for a fun, empowering musical experience.
