Hello, I’m Shamsa — a dedicated tutor with over six years of experience helping students grow in confidence and reach their academic goals.

My approach combines strong subject knowledge with a genuine passion for making learning enjoyable and accessible to every learner. I’ve taught hundreds of students across the UK and internationally through Explore Learning and Varsity Tutors, specialising in Maths, English, 11+ preparation, and creative writing.

Each session is carefully tailored to suit the individual — breaking down complex ideas into manageable steps and building long-term understanding, not just short-term results.

At Steps To Success Tutoring, my goal is simple: to help every student achieve their best — not through pressure, but through encouragement, structure, and a love of learning that lasts.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach focuses on creating a supportive learning environment that is adapted to each student's needs. I use a mix of traditional and modern teaching techniques such as real-world examples and past paper questions to simplify complex topics and improve retention.

My methods encourage active participation and understanding rather than
memorising (which we see often in pupils). My lessons usually span 60 minutes although this is completely in the hands of the student. A typical lesson with me will look like: 1. 10 minutes to review the previous week's content/homework. 2. 20 minutes of teaching a new topic following the National Curriculum/Exam Board Specification. 3. 25 minutes applying the teaching through supported and independent practice questions. 4. 5 minutes for reviewing and providing parents with feedback on the session.
