About Hassan

I am a former national-level badminton player from the Maldives who continues to stay actively involved in the sport here in Western Australia. While my prime competitive years are behind me, I still compete at the WA state level and have achieved a few tournament successes along the way competing against players in their peak.

Today, my focus has shifted toward a more meaningful goal—supporting the badminton journey of my children. As both a parent and a coach, I am deeply committed to helping them pursue their dreams of one day representing their country at the Olympic level. This journey has reignited my passion for the sport and strengthened my dedication to coaching and player development.

Through my experience as both a player and a parent, I bring a balanced perspective to coaching—one that values performance, growth, and long-term development in the sport.

About the lesson

I am a former national-level badminton player from the Maldives, with multiple junior championship titles during my competitive years. I continued playing through my early years before stepping away during high school to focus on my studies and later my professional career.

My passion for badminton was reignited as a parent when I began coaching my daughters. Since then, I have returned to the sport competitively and currently play at the WA state level after relocating to Western Australia a few years ago. Along the way, I have completed my Badminton World Federation (BWF) Level 1 Coaching Certification and am a registered Badminton Australia Coach and have had the opportunity to work alongside high-level coaches and players within WA.

My coaching philosophy is centered around the idea that every player is unique. I believe coaching should be adaptable, focusing on bringing out the best in each individual. While strong fundamentals such as footwork and technical shot execution are essential, I also emphasize the importance of body mechanics, movement efficiency, and the mental aspects of the game to help players reach their full potential and play beautiful badminton.

I am particularly passionate about player development, especially at the beginner and intermediate levels, and I enjoy guiding players through their progression. Whether you are just starting out or looking to refine your skills, I aim to create a supportive and structured environment that encourages both improvement and enjoyment.

A typical coaching session runs for 1 to 1.5 hours and includes a combination of technical drills, movement training, and game-based practice tailored to the player’s level and goals.
