About Carice

Hello! My name is Carice, and I am a passionate and dedicated teacher from South Africa. I have experience working with school-aged learners and have a genuine love for helping children learn, grow and develop confidence in their abilities.

As a teacher, I believe that learning should be engaging, meaningful and enjoyable. I create lessons that are structured and well-prepared, while still being relaxed enough for learners to feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I understand that every learner is different, so I adapt my teaching style and pace according to each student’s individual needs.

I have experience working with learners in subjects including Afrikaans and Social Sciences, as well as supporting learners with reading, comprehension, language development and general academic skills. I am familiar with the South African school curriculum and enjoy creating practical, creative and age-appropriate learning activities.

My students can expect a patient, encouraging and supportive teacher who takes their progress seriously. I aim not only to help learners understand their schoolwork, but also to build their confidence and develop a positive attitude towards learning.

Whether your child needs additional support, wants to strengthen their Afrikaans skills, needs help catching up with schoolwork, or simply wants to become more confident academically, I would love to be part of their learning journey.

About the lesson

My Teaching Methodology

My teaching approach is learner-centred, practical and engaging. I believe learners learn best when lessons are relevant, interactive and presented in a way that suits their individual learning style and level.

I use a combination of clear explanations, visual resources, questioning, practical activities, repetition and real-life examples to help learners understand and remember new concepts. I also believe in creating a supportive environment where learners feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as part of the learning process.

What makes me unique as a teacher is my ability to make learning fun, approachable and easy to understand. I enjoy creating colourful, creative and age-appropriate resources and adapting my teaching to the needs of each learner. I have experience working within the South African CAPS curriculum and understand the challenges learners can face when keeping up with the curriculum and assessments.

Languages

I am proficient in English and Afrikaans and am able to teach and communicate comfortably in both languages.

I can assist learners with Afrikaans as a First Additional Language, as well as English-based subjects and learning activities.

What Can Students Expect From a Typical Lesson?

A typical lesson with me will be structured but relaxed. We will begin by identifying what the learner already knows, followed by a clear explanation of the new concept.

Lessons may include:

Simple, easy-to-understand explanations
Visual examples and learning resources
Questions and discussions
Practical activities and worksheets
Revision and repetition
Short exercises to check understanding
Personalised feedback and guidance

My goal is not simply for learners to memorise information, but to understand what they are learning and develop confidence in their own abilities.
