About Ben
I’m a passionate science communicator and wildlife filmmaker currently working with the BBC on major natural history series. With a BSc in Zoology from the University of Exeter and an MSc in Science Communication from the University of Manchester, I bring both academic depth and real-world experience to my tutoring. My work has taken me around the world — from tracking leopards in through minefields in Iraq to filming elephants in the jungles of Borneo — and I love bringing that perspective into the classroom. I understand how to break down complex topics and connect with students, not just as a tutor, but as someone who genuinely wants them to succeed and enjoy learning. I take professionalism seriously: I come prepared, I’m punctual, and I care about the progress of each student. You’ll be met with encouragement, patience, and a structured, supportive environment regardless of your level of experience, age or your goals

I tailor my approach for the student's needs. That could be exam prep, filling in knowledge gaps, or sparking curiosity about the natural world. I use a mix of visuals, stories from my career and things I've learnt from working alongside world-leading scientists and storytellers in the field, and active questioning to make biology memorable and engaging. I focus on building understanding, not just memorisation, so students can apply concepts confidently. Most lessons are 55 minutes, but I can adapt to shorter or longer depending on your goals and schedule. BSc in Zoology MSc in Science Communication Lecturing experience at Undergrad and Masters level Mentoring and peer coaching throughout university and my career I also grew up with two teachers as parents, so carry with me a lifetime's worth of learnt lessons. I tutor GCSE and A-level students, university applicants, and adult learners with a curiosity about biology, ecology, or science communication. Whether you're aiming for top exam results or just trying to remember what the powerhouse of the cell is, I can help.
