About Karlos
I am a recent Master of International Management (Int'l MBA) graduate with specialities in Social Impact Entrepreneurship and Global Marketing from Portland State University (Portland, OR, 2011). I’ve been tutoring with much success for nine years all levels of oral, written, and conversation Spanish at higher education institutions (Chemeketa Community College, Willamette University, and Portland State University), and virtually through VarsityTutors.com and PSU eTutoring. I received my B.A. from Willamette University (Salem, OR) with Majors in: International Politics, Spanish Literature; and a Minor in Music Performance and Theory. My professional background includes engagement with immigrant/migrant communities in City Government (Woodburn, OR), Youth Mentoring/Outreach (Boys and Girls Club), and Spend Visibility/Supply Chain Logistics at Blount Intl (Milwaukee, OR).

I approach each tutoring session with the purpose to first, after the initial introductions, make the student comfortable and discover the learning-disconnect and their learning style if possible in this initial conversation. I teach efficient study skills unique to each student and their learning needs. I am devoted to community outreach and support, and firmly believe education is necessary to obtain a good quality of life. Success for me as a tutor comes when my students are confident and sufficient in the subject matter and capable of effective study skills.
