About Zoe
I’m currently a student at UC Berkeley studying Sociology and Economics, and I’m passionate about helping people feel confident communicating in Chinese. As someone who studies and lives in an international environment every day, I understand the challenges of learning a new language and speaking naturally in conversations.
I’m a native Mandarin speaker and also speak Cantonese, so I can help students from different language backgrounds feel comfortable during lessons. I’m patient, friendly, and encouraging, and I always try to create a relaxed learning atmosphere where students are not afraid to make mistakes.
I believe language learning should feel practical, engaging, and connected to real life. My goal is not only to help students improve their Chinese, but also to help them understand Chinese culture and feel more confident expressing themselves naturally.

My lessons are designed to make learning Chinese feel natural, interactive, and stress-free. I focus heavily on real-life communication, pronunciation, and building confidence, especially for students who feel nervous about speaking. Whether you are a complete beginner or already have some experience, I tailor every lesson to your goals and learning style.
In my classes, we use conversations, daily-life scenarios, Chinese culture, videos, music, and personalized exercises to help you improve quickly while still enjoying the process. I can also help with HSK preparation, travel Chinese, conversational Mandarin, pronunciation correction, and beginner writing or reading.
As an international student at UC Berkeley, I understand what it feels like to learn and communicate in different languages every day. I’m patient, encouraging, and I always want my students to feel comfortable making mistakes and growing naturally through practice.
