About Jade
Hi! I’m Jade (Chinese name: 石泽西), and I’m a 20-year-old university student studying Psychology. You can call me Jade or 西西老师 (Teacher Xixi)! I started teaching Mandarin because I love the language and enjoy helping others learn it. It makes me really proud to see students become more confident, do well in their exams, or grow curious and passionate about Mandarin too. My lessons are friendly and tailored to your needs, whether you’re a beginner or preparing for GCSE. I focus on clear speaking, useful vocabulary, and helping you enjoy the process of learning. Outside of teaching, I love art and food. I’m excited to help you on your Mandarin journey!

I offer personalised Mandarin lessons that focus on building vocabulary, improving pronunciation, and boosting speaking confidence. This type of tutoring would be especially useful for students nearing their speaking exam! I specialise in teaching beginners—especially GCSE and ab initio students—but also support intermediate learners aiming to refine their fluency and accent. Each lesson is typically 60 minutes and fully tailored to the student's goals. Students are welcome to bring in materials from school (e.g., vocabulary lists, grammar exercises, speaking prompts), and I will design a custom lesson plan to help reinforce and deepen their understanding. Whether they need support with tones, speaking practice, or writing Chinese characters, I adjust the pace and focus accordingly. My lessons often include: Vocabulary teaching with visual aids and context Tone and pronunciation drills to reduce accent Sentence-building and grammar reinforcement Real conversation practice through guided dialogues Light, practical homework to support progress Lessons are available online or in-person in the Sevenoaks/Oxted area and surroundings. Whether you're studying for an exam or just want to improve your conversational Mandarin, I’ll help you learn in a friendly, encouraging, and structured environment—and I’ve proven especially helpful in preparing students for GCSE speaking exams with confidence and clarity.
