About Matthew
I am a graduate of the former Queen's School of Music with a B.H. Mus., a focus in education and music theory, and a minor in mathematics.
I am a graduate of Carleton University with a B.Sc. majoring in Biochemistry, and have a certificate in web design.
Over the course of my studies, I have done several placements in schools teaching music and math. I was a part of the Concurrent Education degree program before deciding that I did not enjoy teaching large groups of students, and preferred the one-on-one experience. While I only have one year of experience in tutoring specifically, I have been studying education and practicing cumulatively for about five years.

I have one year of experience tutoring in grade 11 mathematics, grade 12 data management, grade 12 chemistry, grade 12 biology, first year university general chemistry, and grade 8 math.
Lessons are set to the student's pace. Depending on the learning needs of the student, I am happy to provide explanations, stepwise instructions, critical thinking examples, and/or study tools for test and exam prep. I ask students to bring whatever schoolwork they are having trouble with so we can work through it together and reach a better understanding of the materials and concepts.
Lessons are intended for students at the high school level. I may or may not take on any university or college students depending on the course and my familiarity with the subject matter.
For anyone who lives nearby, I am happy to do in-person lessons at the local public library. Otherwise, we can work out an online schdule using Zoom, Skype, or Discord.
