About Lola
I am about to enter the final year of an integrated Master's degree in Biochemistry at the University of Oxford, where I have achieved a First Class standard in my exams so far. Before this, I studied A Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Biology and Chemistry and achieved 4 A*s.
Despite all of this, science was my least favourite subject for most of secondary school, due to a lack of confidence in my abilities and finding no real enjoyment in having to memorise so many facts and equations. My own experience has made me keen to use the parts of my degree I find fascinating to improve other students' interest in science and maths, as I understand just how much having engaging teaching at this level can change things around.

I have 2+ years of tutoring experience in GCSE Chemistry, Physics and Maths, both in-person and online. During the pandemic, I experimented with lots of interactive tools online to make digital learning more engaging, so my online lessons are the same standard as in person. I currently offer tutoring in GCSE/A Level Chemistry, Biology and Maths, as well as Physics at GCSE Level.
My sessions typically last an hour, and focus on a single topic area from the syllabus that I have discussed with the student. I try to apply the same active learning methods I use in my own revision to tutoring, using both quizzes and past exam questions. Where possible, I try to bring in interesting knowledge from my own degree and experience in Biochemistry to place what can often feel like a long list of tedious facts to memorise into a real-life context.
