About Amanda
Hi, I’m Amanda Vallance. I’m a bird photographer, trained in ornithology, and the founder of both Avian Adventures Australia and the Adelaide Bird Club. I also work as a local tour guide, running birdwatching and bird photography experiences that mix nature, history, bakeries, and wine tasting across the Adelaide region. My sessions are hands-on and in-person only. Whether you're just starting out or want to improve your technique, I offer friendly, practical lessons tailored to your goals. With a focus on bird behavior, ethical photography, and real-world skills, you'll learn how to make the most of your gear and your time in the field.

What You’ll Learn:
• Bird photography techniques for all skill levels
• Understanding your camera settings with confidence
• How to find and approach birds in natural settings
• Composition, light, and timing for stronger images
• Basic editing using Lightroom or Photoshop if requested
• Tips for identifying birds and understanding their behaviour
• Respectful field practices for working around wildlife
Extras:
• All sessions take place in person around the Adelaide region
• A camera and lens can be supplied if you don’t have your own
• Mini field trips can include locations with historical or cultural value
