About Phyllis

A little about myself. I am a mature lady, born and schooled in England to GCE level but now reside in South Africa {Cape Town}. I was assistant to the Manager of the German company I worked for. Started teaching children from underprivileged families and abused families. This led me to take certain courses regarding Child Care and Criminology. I am a soccer fan mainly Liverpool FC as my husband was once on the books of this wonderful club. A major injury was the reason he left and we emigrated to SA where he played for Cape Town City. We opened our own business manufacturing cycling clothing for many years and during this time I started teaching gaining my TEFL certificates. In my spare time, I'm a film extra which I find exciting playing different roles. Three years experience. I hope this introduction gives you a good idea of the person I am.

About the lesson

Students can be shy and reluctant to talk about themselves at first. A teacher has to make the student feel relaxed and confident but also make learning fun and enjoyable. I love to find out what makes a person tick, so to speak, their likes, dislikes, goals, etc. so conversational lessons are a must. Of course, pronunciation and grammar are important also. I enjoy teaching young students 8/12 yrs but have experience with tourists to my country SA, who are just passing through and need basic English. Mainly Chinese students and Spanish tourists in my experience.
