About Oliver

I began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2012 under Nick Brooks at Mill Hill BJJ. I, like so many others, was immediately passionate about jiujitsu and began avidly training. I am eager to help others on their martial arts journey and to expedite their learning using scientifically proven methods for faster skill acquisition, and to help build confidence on the mat.

About the lesson

I usually divide the class into the following sections: 1) Basic warm-up consisting of Controlled Articulated Rotations and mobility drills 2) Specific drills designed to teach students how to properly move to aid their overall performance. 3) Technique: we focus on one specific area/position and learn how to progress into a more dominant position or submission hold. This leads on to an explanation of the initiatives and key concepts required to give a comprehensive understanding of a position. 4) Ecological sparring: using games specifically working on a position we improve one's reactions in real-time. 5) Open sparring - Tell me about your qualifications I have been training and competing in BJJ for over 10 years. Having worked as a teacher at secondary level, (in Law and Philosophy), I am adept in communication and eliciting knowledge from others. I am patient in my approach and use effective methods to faster improve your jiujitsu. I have a Brown Belt under David Onuma of Combined Fighting Systems, which I was awarded in June 2023. Most recently won my division in the English No-Gi competition (Brown belt, Masters 1). - How much do you charge. My regular rate is £50 per 1-hour class, with a discount available for bookings of 10 classes or more (£45 ph) - For who is my class designed for I teach all ages and skill levels. My primary focus is to ensure that students are kept safe and injury-free. I ensure the highest levels of care in training, including giving comprehensive warm-ups and cool down stretching. My classes are designed to give students excellent instruction and active evaluation of their weaker areas with clear directions for improvement.
