About Sifu Thomas
I’m Sifu Thomas, founder and Head Instructor of JKD Flow Academy. My martial arts journey is grounded in a deep respect for Bruce Lee’s legacy and the belief that martial arts is more than just fighting — it’s a journey of self-discovery, personal growth and honest self-expression.
I received my Jeet Kune Do instructor's rank in 2024 under Sigung Ricardo Vargas, where our lineage traces directly back to Bruce Lee and his original students. I have also cross-trained in various other arts, including Boxing, Muay Thai, Taekwondo, BJJ, MMA and Wrestling. Nevertheless, Jeet Kune Do is the 'Master Key'!
Alongside martial arts, I’m a primary school teacher with a Master of Teaching (University of Melbourne), where I graduated as dux. My teaching experience shapes my approach to teaching Jeet Kune Do: patient, structured and responsive to each individual’s needs.
At JKD Flow Academy, our mission is to cultivate deeper self-knowledge through Jeet Kune Do. Together, we learn to flow, adapt, express our truth and transcend our limits.

Lessons follow Bruce Lee’s Jeet Kune Do philosophy, with a curriculum based on both Original JKD and JKD Concepts. Training focuses on simplicity, adaptability and what works best for the individual. I draw from Boxing, Wing Chun, Muay Thai, Filipino Martial Arts, grappling and related arts, teaching in a clear, student-centered way that builds on each person’s strengths, goals and experiences.
Sessions last 1 hour and are available as private (1-on-1) or semi-private classes (in groups of 2-4 students). Lessons include combat conditioning and real-world martial arts application. Suitable for complete beginners through to advanced students of all ages and backgrounds.
