About Joann
I am currently a fresh graduate from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a strong interest in teaching Mathematics. I genuinely enjoy helping students understand concepts and gain confidence in solving problems.
I find teaching fulfilling, especially when I can simplify challenging topics and see students improve over time. My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing their skills at their own pace.

My teaching approach focuses on building a strong conceptual foundation while developing students’ confidence in problem-solving. I believe that understanding why a concept works is just as important as knowing how to solve a question. During lessons, I break down complex topics into simple, manageable steps and use relatable examples to help students grasp concepts more effectively.
I also place strong emphasis on practice. Students will attempt questions independently, and I guide them when needed—helping them identify mistakes and improve their thinking process. I encourage students to ask questions freely and make sure they feel comfortable doing so, creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.
I have close to a year of experience teaching at a Math tuition centre, where I worked with students from lower to upper primary levels. Currently, I am tutoring four students across Primary 3 to Primary 6.
Academically, I achieved A grades in both Elementary Mathematics (E-Math) and Additional Mathematics (A-Math), which gives me a strong foundation in the subject and allows me to explain concepts clearly and effectively.
