About Mabel

Hi, I'm Mabel, a Business Analytics undergraduate at the University of Southampton and a former A-Level Business student myself, where I achieved an A* alongside A's in my other subjects.

I tutor AQA and Edexcel A-Level Business with confidence, and I'm happy to support OCR students too. My approach focuses on exam technique, how to actually score marks on evaluation and analysis questions, not just know the theory because that's usually the gap between a B and an A.

Alongside tutoring, I run a page on TikTok, where I share study advice and sell flashcards based on my own A-Level notes. Several students have told me these flashcards helped them jump to an A/A*, and I bring that same structured, exam-focused approach into every session.

I offer online sessions (£20/hour) as well as in-person sessions in Bournemouth (£25/hour). Whether you need help with a specific topic, past paper practice, or a full run-through before exams, I'll build a plan around what you actually need.

About the lesson

My approach is built around one idea: knowing the content isn't the same as scoring marks for it. Most A-Level Business students I meet already understand the theory; the gap is turning that knowledge into answers that hit the mark scheme, especially on evaluation and application questions where most points are lost.

Every student starts with a quick diagnostic going through a past paper or recent mock together so I can see exactly where marks are slipping, whether that's structure, application to the case study, or weak evaluation. From there, I build a plan around their specific exam board (AQA, Edexcel, or OCR) rather than teaching generically, since command words and mark allocation differ between boards.

Sessions mix three things: targeted content recap where there are genuine gaps, guided practice writing exam-style answers with immediate feedback, and active recall using structured flashcards — the same method behind my studyglowbiz resources, which students have told me pushed them from a grade boundary into an A/A*. I keep momentum between sessions with short recall tasks so revision doesn't just happen for one hour a week.

I also tutor homeschooled students, so I'm comfortable providing more structure and pacing than a school environment normally would, building a full scheme of work if needed, not just topic-by-topic help.
