About Thoughts
I shall attempt to answer questions that I think you might have. What is your background in Portuguese? What makes you think your methods will work? Well, I spoke Portuguese from a young age. I learned it with my mother and my family. I was able to get my point across and make myself clear. However, it wasn't enough to satisfy me. I wanted to be indistinguishable from an educated Brazilian adult. I wanted to show I could say everything they could and do it better. So I hit the books but failed every time. I would burn out. Just when I lost hope and was going to give up I figured out the secret. I gave up my assumptions. I gave up the English Language. You may be asking, "What do you mean by giving up the English Language?" I mean stop trying to make strict rules for the language. I accepted the language for what it was. If a word had to come with a preposition I would accept it. What I am trying to say is that languages are weird to every rule there are countless exceptions. Forget about focusing on every rule. It is okay to make mistakes. Do you think anyone on this planet has learned to make no mistakes? The answer is no.

Every lesson of, " Think Like a Brazilian" is structured with three elements. This is not in any specific order. The order will be decided after evaluating the student. Before I start it is imperative to make it clear that even though I intend to keep the note-taking to a minimum this is still a lesson and there will be many times in each session when a tool to type or write is needed 1. Vocabulary Building. We will have a list of words that will be the focus of our session. Every few words on the list will be accompanied by one phrase for the student to read aloud and write. To familiarize their eyes mouths, and fingers with the language. For example, I am from the United States, Eu sou dos Estados Unidos. 2. Storytime Depending on the level of the student we will have stories that represent real-life situations for them to read. We will dive into every sentence and learn its meaning and application in this class. 3. Grammar Yes, we will have to go over grammar. Whether we like it or not grammar is key to any language. To prevent you from dozing off we will be going over the grammar of the story. 4. Have fun!! While I understand this sounds like a lot of heavy lifting but fret not! One of the reasons people fail in their journey of language learning is not enjoying the process. I want you to learn and studies have shown that you learn better when having fun.
