About Zak
The first thing you should know about me is that I’m incredibly passionate about education. I’m a school governor, I’ve worked as an Interventionist in schools, I’ve set up educational programmes with youth charities, and I teach whenever I can. The second thing you should know is that while I love maths, there have been times when I’ve found it really challenging, especially during my studies at UCL and Cambridge. I understand the barriers we all face, how to overcome them, and care deeply about helping others to overcome them. I truly believe that anyone can be better at maths.

Having taught one-to-one and small groups in secondary schools and sixth forms, I use professional resources and a personalised curriculum to build a student's understanding methodically and efficiently. Alongside this, I place a strong emphasis on discussion-based learning (akin to Cambridge tutorials), encouraging students to articulate their ideas and thought processes. A part of each lesson involves a continuous dialogue to gradually unearth not only the misconceptions which limit a student but also where they are succeeding. This ongoing process informs how I plan following lessons, ensuring that teaching responds to the student's needs. I also assign homework to consolidate learning, and students are expected to complete it before the next lesson.
