About Alex
Having graduated from Cambridge University this summer with a first class degree in French and History, I am now studying for an MPhil in Modern European History. I worked as a private tutor throughout my entire undergraduate degree, providing lessons both in person, for local students, and online, for students living across the UK and beyond. My experience tutoring French and History covers beginners all the way up to A-level students, and I am familiar with a variety of exam boards; from AQA and Edexcel to WJEC and Cambridge International. As a representative of charities such as Zero Gravity and Slipstream Education, I have also offered support with applications to study History and Modern Languages at top UK universities. I find it highly rewarding to help students improve in and develop an enthusiasm for their subjects. For this reason, I seek to make the tutoring process engaging and individually tailored, as I know that the key to improvement is a genuine interest in the subject. My other interests include dancing and piano, both of which I have been involved in since I was a child. I love learning languages, which led me to gain a B2 certificate in Spanish and A2 certificate in Arabic alongside my undergraduate studies. While at university, I was also a founding member of the One for the World Cambridge chapter, a charity initiative tackling global extreme poverty. My tutoring work is driven by the same motivation: I believe nothing can open doors like education.

I offer classes for all levels, from beginner to A Level, and can tailor lessons to whatever qualification you're working towards. My personalised lessons focus on what the pupil finds difficult, and I will always try to find new approaches to make your learning easier and more fun! To do this, I can provide exercises and past paper questions to consolidate your knowledge. I want to ensure that the pupil participates actively, in order to gain confidence and make real progress while enjoying our lessons. I offer classes online, via Skype, FaceTime, Zoom and WhatsApp. I have very flexible availability and can adapt to your schedule, and if requested I can offer extra work to do between classes, which I am available to mark.

Perfect! Alex is friendly, well-organised tutor that has been providing French lessons to both my 12 and 13 year olds over the summer holidays. She has really helped to boost their command and confidence of the subject. We thank her for her efforts and have no hesitation in recommending her to others too!
Perfect! Alex has been helping my 13 yr old daughter with French for the last few months. We started during the second lockdown in January as my daughter was getting so little French input from school. Alex has been fantastic and my daughter's confidence quickly improved. We decided to keep going when the schools started back and Eliza's French teacher phoned me in April to tell me how well she was doing!
