About Gregory
Hi, I'm Greg; I currently work at a documentary-making, TV company in London, having graduated last year from Queens' College, University of Cambridge with a BA(Hons) in Arabic and Middle Eastern Studies, with French. Before University I worked as a Teaching Assistant at a secondary school in Oxford, before becoming a visiting teacher of English at the High Institute of Arabic Translation in Algiers. All of this time and throughout university I also tutored students from years 9-13 through GCSEs and A-Levels.

I like to structure my classes around the student. Sessions are typically one hour long, but I can do 1.5-2 hours depending on the requirements. Over the course of the session I like to look over work done by a student and discuss it rather than just providing a simple mark/grade. We then can work through how to improve on the answer, looking at a similar question. A French session I prefer to speak in French as much as possible, unless technical language of the exam requires English. Practice papers with strong feedback and mutual discussion are my preferred way to teach University Entrance, but I tailor to individual needs. I have experience in teaching students from year 7, right up to Masters students (in Language), and have set exams myself too, so am comfortable teaching students from aged 11-22. While I have high standards, I want to create a constructive, encouraging learning environment.

I will happily mark some additional work sent to me by students at no extra cost. However for larger volumes of marking (including coursework) I charge 50% of my hourly teaching rate.
