About Lyn
Helloooo I'm Lyn! My life dream has always been to travel the world and teach English country to country. Hence, I pursued a BA in English Language & Literature from a Canadian University and have been doing exactly that since I graduated :) For the language portion of my degree, I learned the intricacies of English phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. For the literature portion, I learned research techniques and essay-writing skills. I worked for a tutoring company for 5 years where I taught all things related to English, to students of all ages and backgrounds. I specialized in:
- essay-writing
- college preparation
-Special Needs education for learners with autism and dyslexia
-phonics and reading (I previously volunteered at an elementary school being a reading tutor)
- ESL English (I also have a 100-hour TEFL certificate).

I prepare lesson plans according to the learning style of each student:
- whether they're visual/auditory/kinesthetic learners
- if they need a fun or strict tutor to keep them motivated
- for young students, I generally use interactive games with points systems to motivate them to learn and do work
- for older students, many of them prefer to bring their own materials and ask me to help them in different ways. I use online whiteboards to discuss with them, and I prepare quizzes every few sessions for review.
- for conversational learners, I like to have fun and act more as a friend where we read interesting articles together, or learn new vocabulary together, while I point out their pronunciation or accent.
