About Shilpa
I am a PhD student at UT Southwestern Medical Center. Fun fact, I love teaching and actually studied secondary education for three years in college. I learned so much through my courses and field work! Ultimately, I switched majors and received a B.S. degree in chemistry and biology at Valparaiso University to pursue my passion for science. Although I spend much of my time now studying or doing lab work, I want to follow my love for teaching and tutor! I have lots of experience, too. I tutored middle and high school students for over 6 years in science and math. This has included homework help, test prep, supplement to homeschooling, and teaching study skills.

My teaching method is to cater to each student’s individual needs. I like to relate learning to a student’s interests, and help them become organized and self sufficient in their study methods. I ask lots of questions and delve deep into the subject so the student can make lots of connections and learn effectively! Like I have described in my “rate” section, I want every student to have the opportunity to be successful and I KNOW every student has the capability to be with some encouragement and support! So please don’t let $ be an issue, we’ll work it out. :)
