About Heidy

Hello! I'm Heidy, a bilingual tutor fluent in both English and Spanish. I was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to the US at age six. By then, I was already a native Spanish speaker and quickly became proficient in English while continuing to use Spanish at home.

My personal experience with both languages gives me a unique understanding of the challenges and rewards of becoming bilingual. With my extensive background in both languages, I have developed a deep understanding of the cultural nuances and practical usage of English and Spanish.
I look forward to supporting you on your language-learning journey.

About the lesson

As a bilingual tutor fluent in both English and Spanish, I draw on my personal experience and background to provide engaging and effective lessons. Here’s an overview of my approach:

Teaching Method and Techniques
Bilingual Integration: I use both languages in lessons to help students understand and appreciate both English and Spanish.

Customized Learning: I adapt my teaching to each student’s learning style and goals.

Practical Application: I focus on real-world usage, including conversation, writing, and reading.

Interactive and Fun: I use multimedia, games, and cultural references to keep lessons enjoyable and relevant.

Typical Lesson Plan
Warm-Up: Review of previous lesson with a fun activity.

New Material: Introduction of new vocabulary or grammar with examples.

Practice: Interactive activities like role-playing and quizzes.

Cultural Insights: Adding cultural elements from Spanish-speaking countries.

Review and Homework: Summarizing key points and assigning homework.

What Sets Me Apart
Personal Experience: Having moved from the Dominican Republic to the US, I understand the challenges of learning a new language.

Bicultural Perspective: I bring a rich understanding of both English and Spanish cultures.

Expertise: My lifelong use and study of both languages allow me to teach effectively.

Who the Lessons Are For
Level: Beginners to intermediate learners.

Class Specificities: Customizable for exam prep, business communication, travel, or cultural immersion.

Individual or Group Sessions: Available for one-on-one or group learning.

I aim to create a supportive and effective learning environment to help you become fluent and confident in both English and Spanish.
