About Ali
I am a fun-loving teacher with a genuine passion for maths. I didn't always find maths easy at school and I know this makes me a better, more empathetic teacher.
When I see the difference I make to my students' view of maths, I get a true sense of delight and when they start getting better results, I love to celebrate their achievements.
In my spare time I write novels, walk my adorable dog and love listening to music and going to festivals.

I love teaching children who are struggling with their maths confidence. In addition to my 25 years of teaching experience, I am a qualified confidence coach and hypnotherapist so I'm able to quickly get to the root of issues and help children to believe that they CAN do it!
Lessons are 45 minutes long and generally follow a regular format:
1. We start with a brief maths mindset meditation/coaching for confidence.
2. A quick warm up game or quiz on previous learning.
3. Introduce a new maths concept and demonstrate examples
4. Students get the chance to apply learning to some practice questions.
5. Round-up of learning points and Q&A
I like to keep lessons fun, visual and interactive to cover all the learning styles and am flexible when it comes to tailoring to a student's needs.
My love for what I do shines through and this helps me to build a rapport with my students almost immediately.
