About Samantha

(Image credit: Stuart Lowe) 2nd place winner at the 2024 Glenn Gould School Chamber Competition, Samantha’s trio, the Renati Trio, performed during the Canadian Opera Company’s Free Concert Series and concluded Les AMIS Concerts' 2023-24 season. Samantha’s soloist achievements include winning the Emerging Artist Award at the Burlington Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition, securing 1st Place at the Ontario Music Festival Association Provincials, and making her debut with the Cathedral Bluffs Symphony Orchestra. Currently pursuing her bachelor's degree at the Glenn Gould School, Samantha studies with Hans Jørgen Jensen and Andrés Díaz and is a grateful recipient of full scholarship support from the JP Bickell Family Foundation. Over the years, Samantha has had opportunities to work with several esteemed cellists and pedagogues, including Richard Aaron, Colin Carr, Steven Doane, Zvi Plesser, Bryan Epperson, and Brannon Cho.

About the lesson

The first lesson is when I like to get to know the student and get an understanding of any individual goals we can work towards. From there, we will move forward to some playing where I'd like to gauge the student's current skill level.

I believe it is key to make sure we work at a pace that will meet each student's unique goals while making sure that their skills improve.
At the end of the day, I always want to make sure the student is enjoying the learning process, and never loses their passion for music!

My rates are $50 for 45-minute lessons and $60 for 1 hour lessons.
Students are required to bring their own cello and bow. If you don't have access to them, there are many rentals available at local music stores.
