About Gabi

Dear Sirs, With this letter I would like to express my interest in working with you. I would love to make my contribution to make you successful. I’ll try to explain here why I love teaching English. I have been asking myself this question a lot recently. For one thing, I love the English language and its grammar, and I love the idea that what I have studied so hard can be put to good use to other people’s benefit, helping them improve their knowledge and make progress. I am a very empathic person, plus I love interacting with people and when you teach you get in touch with the inner part of each of them. In addition, in order to be well prepared yourself, you must revise the grammar thoroughly, on a regular basis and this gives you the chance to brush up continuously on the English language and keep it up. Your brain cells are kept alert all the time, and you keep young! Nothing is worse than your brain getting rusty! I have happened to realise that working with students is very fulfilling, especially when you are able to get them to do their exercises diligently, in harmony with one another. If you can manage to draw their attention, everyone is motivated and curious, and you end up getting good feedback. If they obtain good marks, and you see them improving slowly but surely, then, is the icing on the cake. It’s extremely rewarding then, when a teacher succeeds in getting the student to improve. I think everybody can be motivated in the right direction; you just need to find out what makes them tick. What is unique about this job is the connection that you can establish with learners, you can help them find their own pace, see them become more and more interested in the lesson, and learn vocabulary and more complex grammar step by step, gradually, but steadily. With the helpful teachings of the Celta and a thorough preparation of the lesson plan, I’ve been able to break down complicated concepts to something simpler that my students could grasp, very rewarding for me and my students. When my students come up to me for help and then tell me that my course is great, and that they have been able to keep focused the whole time, and they have learnt a lot, there is no better feeling in the world. Most of all, I love the challenge of managing the difference in the learners’ abilities, which can be certainly challenging, but really gratifying. As for the Italian language, I am bilingual and in order to be able to study and understand English I had to have a thorough knowledge of the Italian language as well. I have done plenty of private tutoring in these years, so I think I could be the right person for the job, It’s a very fulfilling job, and I love it. I also attend webinars, seminars and conferences on a regular basis to keep myself updated. Other Qualifications: teaching training school leaving certificate, Proficiency, Celta

I am writing to recommend one of our summer school teaching staff, Gariella Peano. Gabi worked with us at KKCL from 29th July to 16th August 2019.
Initially employed as an EFL teacher teaching our GoCreate! programme, her time with us also saw her successfully engage in covering General English classes.
During the GoCreate! summer programme Gabi taught classes of up to 16 students aged 6 – 16 as well as General English to adult students aged 16+ at A1/A2 and B1/B2 levels.
Gabi was always professional with a friendly and approachable personality. She displayed a student-centred passion for teaching, which was well received by her students. She was always responsible, organised and well-prepared for her lessons. Her flexibility, being reliable and ability to use her own initiative made her a valued member of the team.
