About Sarah
I work as a ceramic potter alongside teaching, and years spent throwing clay taught me a patience and tactile, hands-on approach that shapes almost everything about how I run an ESL lesson today. Seven years into teaching now, I've worked with about ninety-five adult students, many of them drawn specifically to a calmer, more tactile, less rushed approach than typical fast-paced classes elsewhere offer. My pottery background gives me a naturally patient, hands-on teaching style, treating language progress a bit like centering clay, gently and consistently over genuine time. I connect particularly well with adult learners who feel overwhelmed by fast-paced or purely abstract teaching and prefer something calmer and more genuinely tactile. My teaching style is gentle, patient, and genuinely hands-on, built on the belief that steady, physical, consistent practice produces far more lasting results than intense, purely intellectual bursts. I take genuine pride in watching a student's confidence grow slowly and steadily, the same quiet satisfaction I feel watching a shapeless lump of clay become something genuinely beautiful. Many students tell me they finally feel unhurried and genuinely at ease, rather than constantly rushed toward some arbitrary deadline. My approach treats language learning as something to be shaped patiently. After seven years, I remain genuinely passionate about this teaching approach.

Years spent throwing pottery taught me that some skills simply cannot be rushed, and that same slow, tactile patience shapes how I approach every ESL lesson I teach. Lessons move deliberately, giving each concept genuine time to settle properly, the same careful patience required to center clay correctly on a spinning wheel. I use a lot of repetition and muscle memory style practice, since I've found language, like throwing pottery, genuinely improves through steady, repeated hands-on practice rather than purely intellectual study alone. Vocabulary gets practiced physically sometimes, writing words by hand, tracing letters, engaging the body alongside the mind the way pottery engages hands alongside genuine concentration. Grammar gets introduced calmly and gradually, one shape settling before the next begins, since I've found rushing genuinely creates more collapsed, unstable structures than it ever saves in real time. I encourage students to notice and correct their own small errors gently, the same self-awareness pottery demands constantly at the wheel without a teacher intervening constantly. Speaking practice happens without pressure or rush, giving adult learners genuine thinking time, since good language, like good pottery, cannot be forced. Every lesson stays calm and genuinely patient.
