About Hamid
I am a French teacher. I taught for 17 years in France with a national teaching qualification in high schools to prepare students for French language and literature exams. I worked also in university. I moved in 2017 in Cardiff with my wife who is Welsh and our two children. I'm currently a French tutor in French Language in one of the highest-ranked Russell Group universities in the UK. I lead and teach a second year module and a final year module for the High-Level Proficiency in French. In addition, I am an examiner for the Delf from A1 to C2.
I also teach primary school students on Saturday morning.
My tutoring experience encompasses all topics and exam preparations for GCSE, IGCSE, AS level, A level, IB in all boards Cambridge, Edexcel, AQA...
In the large variety of my experience, I will adjust my lessons to your needs with young students, teenagers or adults providing my own made online resources.
My teaching approach is based on the principle that grammar and vocabulary are most effectively acquired when they are directly connected to learners' personal experiences, interests, and everyday lives. Rather than teaching language as a series of isolated rules, I design activities that encourage students to communicate meaningful information about themselves.
The exercises I create focus on realistic themes such as health, housing, technology, work, daily routines, travel, relationships, and hobbies. These familiar contexts allow students to recycle vocabulary while practicing key grammatical structures, including tense contrasts, negation, relative pronouns, object pronouns, comparisons, the imperative, and the subjunctive. By repeatedly using these structures to express their own opinions, routines, and experiences, learners develop greater fluency and confidence.
Personalised tasks also promote deeper cognitive engagement. Students are more likely to remember vocabulary and grammatical patterns when they are used to describe situations that are personally relevant rather than abstract examples. This approach encourages active communication, supports long-term retention, and helps learners transfer classroom knowledge to authentic interactions in French.

Perfect! Hamid teaches French to all three of my children (ages 6-13). They really enjoy his lessons and their French is improving so much! They are at different levels with the language but Hamid manages to include all of them in the lesson with songs, games and different worksheets for each of their abilities.
